"Very well trained" Transational Gangs are Using Jammers on Home Security Systems

Posted by James Walton on Feb 28th 2024

Your home security plan is the only thing standing between what's inside your home and the home grown criminals and the imports here in America. Our nation is changing rapidly and we are taking on a variety of people who have no real way to make a living. This is going to thrust them into illegal means of making a living. Are you prepared to deal with that in your neighborhood?

In Oakland County, Michigan mansions and expensive homes are being robbed by gangs from Chile that have made their way to the US and are now victimizing the people of the nation. This has been a continued problem and the sheriff has divulged a lot about these gangs and their tactics.

We are going to look at some of those tactics used and how to thwart them in your home security plan. I want you to better understand your home security systems and know how to increase your capabilities by adding some simple things.

Alarm System Dependence

Things like dependence and conveniences, even when they work, make us weaker and unaware. You just have to factor that into reality. A quality alarm system is going to make your home safer but if it is your only means of home security and you assume it is enough to keep the bad guys away then you are wrong.

Electronic security devices whether they are wired, wireless, or solar powered, are all vulnerable. The gangs in Oakland County, Michigan are using what the sheriff is calling “jammers” to disable alarm systems in large homes before robbing them.

“Transnational gangs, with people we think are mainly from Chile,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. When they dont use jammers these gangs are hitting the second floors of the homes because most don’t have motion directions beyond the first floor. There is a lot to learn about these kinds of robberies about our own home security.

Test the Might of your Home Defense

Do you know the quality of the locks that protect your home? The door locks? Do you have deadbolt locks that use keys, too? When you take the time to learn to pick locks you will be able to tell the difference between locking mechanisms.

The only way to really trust your home security is if you have tested it. With something like the Schlage clear practice lock you can use a simple wallet lock pick card set to begin understanding how your home locks work.

Another great set for this is the full practice lock picking set which is great for your own personal home security but also in a collapse of society where all bets are off you can gain access to a lot of places with just this set of tools.

Check up on your window locks, garage door locking mechanisms and any other entryways that need to be fortified to thwart a break in.

Avoiding Direct Contact

In one of the few times when they went into a house and the people were home, as soon as they found out, they ran,” said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be preparing for violence but you can use this intel to your benefit. If you are home then it takes you off the list of commonly considered homes for break ins of this sort.

Get clever with the timing of lights and smart devices to make it appear as though someone is home all times of the day. Like never before we can put almost any system on a timer or turn it on and off from afar.

You are the greatest deterrent when it comes to home security. If you can convince the bad guys that you are home, even when you aren't, it can make them think twice about breaking into a home. Much better to just look for another home where the windows are dark and no one is around.

Deterrents are powerful and are part of the 3 D’s of home security.

Understanding the 3 D’s of Home Security

Deter
There are many things a person can do to deter home grown or transnational gangs and criminals from breaking in. Here is a short list of deterrents that are both effective and affordable:

  • Solar Powered Motion Lights

  • Being Home Regularly

  • Having an Active Neighborhood Watch

  • Being a Physical Threat

  • Visible Security Cameras

  • Loud Dogs

  • Clear Signage (Beware of Dog, Home Protected by...)

Detect

The Ring camera has changed home security in a big way. It’s the best example of the power of detection in your home's security plan. I think that there are two kinds of detection methods that are useful. You have visible detection methods that double as deterrents i.e. security cameras, Ring cameras. Then you can have covert detection methods like camouflage trail cameras that can capture images and videos without intruders even knowing it.

Defend

Defense of your home is personal. There are a lot of options and from baseball bats to hand grenades, Americans can defend their home as they see fit, so long as they are within the laws. How you choose to defend your home is up to you but you need a plan for what happens when your deterrent and detection methods fail and bad guys are coming into the home.

Final Thoughts on your Home Security Plan

Above all, the threats to your home will change with time. The faces, the motives, the methods might be different with time but how you deal with them is most often the same. Our modern set of circumstances comes from a soft stance on crime.

Since the beginning of time, security basics have always been the same. You need to be able to deter, detect, and defend your home. How you go about that is your call but by simply putting those 3 pieces in play, you are going to ward off a lot of trouble.

Bad guys have all the options. Your goal is to just be the last one on their list. Create the most unappealing home to break into because of the banality and of course the sheer pain and frustration that getting into your home would create. They will inevitably look for something easier.
